Trump says ‘I don’t care’ if media gets shot

At the start of his first rally on Sunday, donald trump He said, “I love being away from these stupid teleprompters because the truth comes out.” That statement was a harbinger of things to come when The former president said he would not “care” if a would-be assassin had to “shoot through” members of the media in an attempt to kill him.

“I have a piece of glass here,” Trump said during a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, pointing to his far right. Since the assassination attempt on Trump in July, both he and Vice President Kamala Harris have spoken behind bulletproof glass panels as a security measure.

“And I don’t have a single piece of glass there,” Trump added, pointing between the glass panels.

“I have this piece of glass here,” Trump continued, pointing ahead. “But all we really have here is fake news, right?” The crowd laughed.

“And to catch me, someone would have to spread the fake news, and I don’t care much about that. I don’t mind. “I don’t care about that,” he said.

As CNN senior producer Sarah Boxer noted“The uprising that faces (Trump) head-on is full of reporters and cameras.”

The former president then simply wished death on reporters and camera operators, likely including media employees who are friendly to him, and began talking about how glass means he doesn’t “look good on TV.”

“So I have a piece of glass,” he said, “and the problem with glass is that I don’t look very good on television when you have a four-inch piece of glass that a shell can’t go through. When you see yourself on TV you say… you’re not really very recognizable to be honest with you, which is good.” (Trump is, in fact, extremely recognizable, in part because of its growing orange hue.)

Although Trump quickly put his dangerous comments behind him, it is important to call out his threatening rhetoric for what it is: a call for violence.
