The Police Headquarters has issued a directive to take disciplinary action against officials, from sub-inspectors to police constables, who have been absent from duty without taking leave since August 5.

The directive was issued in an office order signed by AIG Jamirul Islam, police personnel directorate-3, today (November 3).

According to the order, the respective units have been instructed to take divisional action against the police personnel and inform AIG Jamirul Islam about the proceedings.

A significant number of police officers did not take up duty after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5.

According to the Police Headquarters, a total of 187 police officers have been absent so far.

Among them, 166 are classified from sub-inspector to police constable.
