Kadoma Mbinga shot dead by hitmen in cold blood while parking his Toyota Land Cruiser at his home

The death of prominent Kadoma pharmacist and businessman, Elison Tambudza, has become the talk of the town in Kadoma. The 67-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night at 8:30 p.m. at his home, 2216 Jacaranda Drive, Westview, Kadoma.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery, leaving residents and authorities searching for answers.

The incident unfolded when Tambudza was returning home in his white Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number ACM0498. An armed guard employed by Amark Security (Pvt) Limited, stationed at the property, observed two unidentified men scaling the perimeter wall. Before he could intervene, the attackers overpowered the guard and tied his hands with shoelaces. They proceeded to interrogate him, demanding information about Tambudza’s usual arrival time.

A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, recounted the events: “While the alleged thieves were questioning the guard, Tambudza arrived at the door… one of the accused proceeded to open the door. Not noticing anything suspicious, Tambudza drove straight towards the garage, but as he did so, the guard managed to free himself, evaded the other accused who was watching him and ran to the house next door to seek help. The guard, who later became an informant, said he heard two gunshots while calling for reinforcements from neighbors.”

The neighbor’s help arrived too late. When they arrived at Tambudza’s garage, they discovered his lifeless body, with gunshot wounds to the head. The place was immediately secured and the police were notified.

To add to the confusion, the police investigation revealed that Tambudza’s valuable possessions were intact. His vehicle, with his keys, cell phones and any cash he may have had on him, remained intact. This detail casts doubt on a simple robbery motive and deepens the mystery surrounding the murder.

Kadoma Central Police and Homicide detectives responded quickly, processed the crime scene and transported Tambudza’s body to Kadoma General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The investigation continues and detectives are working to establish a clear motive for the murder.

The security guard, who managed to escape his captors and alert neighbors, has been arrested and is currently assisting police in their investigations. His account of the events, including the interrogation of the assailants and their subsequent escape, forms a crucial part of the ongoing investigation. Police are exploring all avenues, including the possibility of a targeted attack, given the lack of an apparent robbery motive.
