Gang attacks student for questioning harassment of classmates

Thiruvananthapuram: A student of Chempazhanthy SN College was brutally attacked near the Greenfield Stadium using iron bars and chains by a gang of eight on Tuesday evening. Six months ago, the student had questioned the gang for harassing his female classmates.
Abhishek, 21, of Aaluvila House in Thumbod near Punalur in Kollam, was seriously injured in the attack. He suffered a fractured nose and injuries to his face, ear, neck and chest.
The Kazhakkoottam police have registered a case against Abhishek, 21, of Andoorkonam, Nakul, 20, of Attipra, Vineeth, 27, of Karichira and five other identifiable persons under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 126 (2) for wrongful deprivation of liberty, 189 (2) for unlawful assembly, 191 (2) for rioting, 191 (3) for rioting with a deadly weapon, 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt, 118 (1) for causing hurt with the aid of a weapon , and 296(b) for abuses.
According to police, the gang allegedly harassed students on campus. The suspects were roaming around the college and entered the campus on the pretext of inquiring about the admission and harassed the students. The injured student had questioned them about it.
After this, the gang had threatened Abhishek over the phone. On Tuesday evening, Abhishek was stopped by them on the road leading to the stadium and brutally attacked.
