Joel Embiid is having trouble with a local Philadelphia reporter and things have gotten ugly.

Last week, Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter Marcus Hayes went viral when he mentioned Embiid’s late brother, who died in a car accident in 2014, while trashing the superstar center.

“Joel Embiid constantly points to the birth of his son, Arthur, as the main turning point in his career. He often says that he wants to grow up to leave a legacy for the child named after his little brother.”

Embiid responded to Hayes a few days later.

“That guy, he’s not here, Marcus whatever his name is. I’ve done too much for this damn city to be treated like this, so I’ve done too much, but like I said, I wish I was as lucky as others, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying and I’m not doing what it takes to be there, and I will be here very soon.”

On Saturday night, Hayes showed up to the Grizzlies-Sixers game and was confronted by Embiid in the locker room.

Embiid reportedly “assaulted” Hayes and pushed him in front of other reporters.

Even journalists take Embiid’s side in the altercation.

Update: The NBA is currently investigating Embiid’s situation, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
