Powerhouse Hobbs confirms he has been cleared for AEW return

After a six-month absence, Powerhouse Hobbs should make his AEW return soon.

Hobbs has been sidelined since undergoing surgery for a torn patellar tendon in April. The injury happened on the April 24 episode of Dynamite while Hobbs was facing Jon Moxley.

Recently, Hobbs was backstage at AEW shows and it was reported that he had been cleared to return to the ring. He confirmed that news during a conversation with In The Kliq this week.

β€œI tore my patellar tendon, so it was a pretty gruesome injury. But I am me. I was acquitted,” Hobbs said. β€œIt healed pretty quickly. You know, I kind of have that Wolverine serum in me. But hey, I’m free. I’m back. It has already spread to the universe and the internet world that I have been acquitted. So it’s time to pick up where I left off.”

When asked about a possible date for his return, Hobbs teased that he could show up at any time.

“You just have to stay informed,” Hobbs replied. “You never know when I’m going to show up.”

The 33-year-old Hobbs is a former AEW TNT champion. This week’s Dynamite from San Jose takes place near his hometown of East Palo Alto, California. AEW will also be in Stockton, California on Thursday for a taping of Collision/Battle of the Belts.
