Arkansas City’s basketball coach resigns, accused of inappropriate communications with student

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Arkansas City High School boys basketball coach CJ Jennings has resigned amid allegations of inappropriate communications with a student, KSN has learned.

Jennings was a basketball coach at Arkansas City High School, but worked for $465 in Winfield.

Arkansas City Public Schools, $470, said it received a report of “inappropriate communications” between Jennings and a student, and both Winfield Public Schools and Arkansas City Public Schools immediately placed him on administrative leave.

The $470 Board of Education accepted Jennings’ resignation during a meeting Monday evening.

“We are working closely with Winfield Public Schools and the Special Education Services Cooperative and cannot share additional details at this time. Please be assured that we are taking these allegations very seriously and will provide updates when possible. We appreciate the support of our school community in addressing this situation,” USD 470 said in a statement.
