Pedestrian killed after being hit by vehicle in Horry County

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Horry County on Saturday.

Horry County Fire Rescue said Crews were called to the area of ​​Socastee Boulevard and Fairyland Drive just before 7:30 p.m.

Master Trooper Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol later added that the accident occurred when a Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a pedestrian who was trying to cross Socastee Boulevard.

According to Miller, the driver and two other passengers in the Jeep were not injured.

As of around midnight Sunday, the Horry County Coroner’s Office had not identified the slain pedestrian.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
