Man convicted of committing armed robbery, eleven days after being convicted of a previous crime

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been convicted of committing armed robbery 11 days after he was convicted of possessing a firearm.

A Washoe County jury found Clyde Buckley III guilty of robbery with a firearm after he robbed a local casino employee.

On January 24 of this year, Reno Police Department officers responded to Circus Circus just after midnight for reports of an armed robbery.

Police learned that a cage supervisor in the parking garage had been robbed at gunpoint by two masked men. She told police the men pointed a gun at her before dragging her down two flights of stairs, taking her purse, phone and lunch bag.

Surveillance footage showed that Buckley and the second suspect coordinated the robbery by each wearing ski masks to conceal their identities and staging a getaway driver. Detectives recognized Buckley from previous shooting investigations and found video surveillance from earlier in the day that showed Buckley wearing the same clothing he wore during the robbery, and in similar clothing when he reported for probation at the federal courthouse.

This will be Buckley’s third gun-related conviction. In 2019, Buckley was convicted of challenging someone to a fight with a firearm, and in 2024 he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Buckley will be sentenced on December 5.
