The district council said the funding will cover brick repair, roofing, decorating, doors, flooring, upgrading air conditioning, lighting and the external toilet block at the leisure centre.

As part of the changes, Stroud Leisure Center members will also be able to use The Pulse Dursley facilities.

Angela Gillingham, head of community services, said officers are working hard to provide the best service possible.

“We want a leisure service for everyone who lives in our district and we have thought a lot about what we want to offer,” he said.

“We believe this is an exciting first step in a completely new offering for our district.”
