Newcastle goalscorer Alexander Isak spoke to TNT Sports after today’s victory: “That was huge, against a big team. It means a lot to the fans that we were able to win this game.”

On scoring 12 goals in his last 12 home league games at St James’ Park: “It’s special, of course, our fans are incredible every game, win or lose. So it gives you an extra boost. I’ve had success here, so I hope I can keep going.”

On his goal and Anthony Gordon’s cross: “The cross was incredible, I just had to jump and put my head on the ball, so you have to give him credit.”

On taking advantage of his opportunity when it came: “Important. Arsenal have a strong defense and that is why it is a difficult task, but I am happy to have been able to score today and keep a clean sheet.”

And on the importance of Newcastle using this victory as a springboard: “We’ve been through a rough patch, but I hope this victory can help us break the ice.”
