Stoughton man pleads guilty to sex trafficking of four women

Local news

Marvin Pompilus, 39, was previously convicted and served time in prison for sex trafficking.

A Stoughton man previously convicted of multiple sex trafficking charges pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to sex trafficking four women following his release from prison in 2021.

Marvin Pompilus, 39, pleaded guilty to four counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, according to the office of Acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Joshua Levy. Pompilus was arrested on charges last November.

“Marvin Pompilus admitted today that after being released from state prison for sex trafficking, he began doing so again, targeting and exploiting four vulnerable women, using violence and threats to coerce them into participating in commercial sex,” said Jodi Cohen, special agent in charge of the Boston Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “What he has done is unconscionable, and the harm he has caused to these women is immeasurable.”

Previously, Pompilus was convicted in February 2018 in Suffolk Superior Court on multiple counts of trafficking for sexual servitude and deriving support from prostitution. He served six years in prison and was released in October 2021.

Prosecutors alleged he returned to the sex trade “almost immediately,” using physical and sexual violence, verbal abuse and withholding drugs from his drug-addicted victims to force them to perform commercial sex acts, collecting all the money for himself.

Pompilus could face up to twenty years to life in prison for the charges he pleaded guilty to; he will return to court for sentencing on January 23.
