Council begins work to ‘improve’ Lincolnshire roads

Work is being carried out this month to “improve roads” in Lincolnshire as part of a project to improve braking and skid resistance.

Nearly seven miles (about 11 kilometers) of roads in the county will undergo “roadway retexturing work” between now and January.

Lincolnshire County Council said that in most cases the work could be carried out with traffic lights and a moving convoy to keep the road open.

Richard Davies, executive member of the highways authority, said: “Retexturing is a very sustainable and cost-effective way of restoring skid resistance and texture to improve tire grip.

“We can do this work using hydraulic shot blasting or shot blasting, and we can do this work on roads where the surface is in generally good condition but needs roughing for better performance.”

The works will be carried out in the following ways:

• Blenheim Way/Northfield Road, Market Deeping

• B1188, between Scopwick and Digby

• A153, Leasingham Moor

• A1031, Ludney

• A15, Cranwell

• A157, main road, Biscathorpe

• Boston Road, Swineshead

• A158, Burg Le Marsh

• Keddington Road, Louth

• A15, Waddington Heath

Davies added: “Due to the nature of the work, some disruption will be inevitable to keep road users and our staff safe, and I would like to thank everyone affected by this improvement program for their patience and understanding.”
