Conservative leadership vote seen by Great Yarmouth Conservatives

David Stephenson, 78, from Ludham, has also been a member of the Conservative Party for more than 50 years.

He also felt that Sunak should have remained as leader, and that he had been left in a difficult position as prime minister.

“I think he’s very strong and a good speaker,” she said.

“The Conservative Party has received a very cruel blow with Covid, Ukraine and Brexit. They have had a bad time and I don’t think anyone gives them credit for it.”

When the BBC spoke to him, he was undecided about who to vote for, and his favorite candidate was eliminated in the last round of voting.

“I thought James Cleverley was pretty good and would have a chance. He’s a very experienced guy but other than that I have no idea about the other candidates,” he said.
