British Columbia boy finds ‘small razor blade’ in Halloween candy: RCMP

Police in Kamloops, British Columbia, are reminding parents and guardians to check their children’s Halloween candy after receiving a report from a mother who found a razor blade in one of her daughter’s candy.

Kamloops RCMP shared a photo of the candy, which appears to be a pink Starburst with a piece of metal sticking out of the side.

“The complainant reported that her daughter, who had been trick-or-treating in the Brock area last night, found a piece of candy in her purse today that had been partially opened, and a small razor blade was observed protruding from the candy,” the task force said. in a news release on Friday.

“The girl notified her mother immediately and the mother notified the police.”

Police said they do not know which house in the neighborhood the candy came from and added that there have been no other reports of similar incidents.

Reports of candy tampering emerge almost every Halloween, but CTV News was unable to find any reports of children being injured by candy tampering in Canada.

Officials advise parents to check their children’s Halloween candy for open or torn wrappers and not to eat homemade treats. If in doubt, discard it.
