Bo MacCormack leads BB&N football past Tabor in battle of the undefeated

MacCormack’s Herculean effort propelled BB&N to a dramatic 28-22 victory over Tabor in a contest between ISL7’s two best teams. The Knights (7-0) have clinched at least a share of the division with one game remaining in the regular season.

“I thought they were going to increase it,” MacCormack said. “I really didn’t know what they were going to do. They made a play and he threw it over my head. I looked back, I saw that it was on the ground, I checked to see if there were zeros (on the clock) and there were zeros and I went crazy.”

MacCormack started the game with an equally impressive highlight, cutting a zone run to the left side and outscoring the defense to the edge for a 59-yard touchdown on the Knights’ first offensive play.

“He’s gotten better and better and just when I think he can’t get better, he gets better,” BB&N coach Mike Willey said. “He just kept working. “He gets faster, stronger and bigger every year.”

MacCormack posted eye-popping numbers running behind the offensive line of junior Tim Church, senior Nate Bodden, sophomore Liam Cunningham, sophomore Ben Pantera and junior Jake McGrath.

MacCormack’s combination of breakaway speed, quickness, strength and vision was on display. On his third touchdown of the game, a 15-yard score, MacCormack stepped over the safety and slammed him to the turf with a hard arm.

“Bo MacCormack, there aren’t enough adjectives and superlatives,” Willey said. “Bo MacCormack is in a league of his own. He’s obviously a great player, but look at him as a teammate. Watch him in the weight room. Watch it in class. “That kid is an incredible kid and he’s also an incredible soccer player.”

Special teams coordinator Howie Rock scored an onside kick to start the second half, which Ellis Barnes recovered for the Knights. The BB&N defense did its part after halftime, when Will Volk stripped Bourque in a scramble, which Vince Sloonian pounced on. Two series later, Colin Hoffman snatched the ball from a receiver for an acrobatic interception.

Senior Hugo Djeumeni ran for 215 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries for the Seawolves (6-1).

Tabor’s Hugo Djeumeni found the end zone twice and totaled 215 rushing yards.
