With each passing loss, it’s clear that the Utah Jazz, now 0-5 and the NBA’s last winless team, need to lean into playing the kids. In the 2024 NBA Draft, the Jazz selected Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier and Kyle Filipowski, who at one point in the 2024 class were considered lottery picks.

Ahead, an impressive game against the Sacramento Kings where Filipowski scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out two assists, had one steal and only committed one foul in a blowout loss. That was a career night against Sacramento off the bench after going scoreless in the first three games in limited minutes.

After that game against the Kings, and while facing Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs, Will Hardy elected to start Duke’s rookie big man alongside Walker Kessler on Thursday.

In that game, and the first start of his career, Filipowski played 20 minutes en route to 12 points, five rebounds and one assist, but was fouled three times. The rookie big man was 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and only missed one shot inside the arc, posting a 5-of-8 performance from the floor.

However, Filipowski worked well with Kessler, this is a pairing you may not see much in the top five until March as it was a game in which Larui Markkanen did not play.

Fellow rookie Cody Williams went 0-for-6 from the floor, 0-for-5 from beyond the arc, but 2-for-2 at the charity stripe with five rebounds and two assists in this game.
