A fatal crash left one woman dead and four others seriously injured, as police launch an investigation into the incident.

It is understood the two vehicles collided at around 8.20pm on Friday.

The accident involved a 2021 Mazda CX-8 and a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder on Fe Walker Street, west of Ashfield Road in Kalkie, near Bundaberg.

A 57-year-old Bargara woman, a passenger in the Mazda, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other occupants of the Mazda – a 63-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, all from Bargara – were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, a 46-year-old man from Norville, was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Authorities are seeking public assistance with their investigation and are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage from the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
