Garrett Wilson makes a one-handed touchdown catch

While much of the attention has been focused on new teammate Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson on Thursday reminded the world exactly what he can do.

New York Jets receiver Wilson delivered a candidate for catch of the year (or perhaps catch of the century) in Week 9 against the Houston Texans. In the fourth quarter, with the Jets facing 3rd-and-19 from the Texans’ 26-yard line, Wilson went one-on-one against Houston cornerback Kamari Lassiter and Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, It gave him air in the end zone.

In what can only be described as a work of pure Renaissance art, Wilson jumped high and reached for the ball with just his right hand…and somehow managed to score the touchdown. The play was initially ruled an incomplete pass (with the referees seemingly as incredulous as the rest of us) before being upheld as a touchdown after the Jets challenged the call.

Here is the impressive video.

A couple more angles showed how truly absurd Wilson’s grab was.

All the superlatives in English would not be enough to describe that catch of Wilson. It looked like the Jumpman logo there. Wow!

Wilson’s legendary grab ended up being of enormous importance as it gave the Jets a 14-10 lead, which they never relinquished before winning 21-13. It’s safe to say that the former Offensive Rookie of the Year more than made up for the cheeky play another Jets receiver made earlier in the game.
