Pat Cummins takes a cheeky swipe from wife Becky as cricket’s first couple and son Albie go trick-or-treating on Halloween

Pat Cummins’ wife Becky has given the cricket star a good-natured dressing down after he went trick-or-treating with her and their son Albie on Halloween.

While the test captain’s wife went to the trouble of dressing up as Helen Parr from the hit children’s film The Incredibles and his son dressed up as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, he wore a t-shirt, shorts, cap and sunglasses very informal.

Becky shared photos of the family with the caption: ‘Happy Halloween!!’ accompanied by Jack-o’-lantern and ghost emojis, and the fun hashtag ‘#daddymadeloadsofeffort’.

The brazen swipe did not go unnoticed by his 90,000 followers.

‘Way to go, Pat. I’m with you,’ wrote one.

“Pat can dress up as Travis Head for Halloween and scare 1.45 billion,” commented another, referring to Cummins’ teammate who played a starring role in the Australian team’s victory over India in the World Cup earlier this year.

“Pat Cummins dresses up as India’s nightmare,” wrote a third, referring to the upcoming Test series between the two countries.

Becky also posted a glimpse of Pat holding Albie over a box full of lollipops as a large crowd of children gathered to grab some, and captioned the video: “The reason we ran out of candy so quickly.”

While Becky and Albie were dressed up, the Australian captain was as casual as possible, and his wife didn't let him forget it.

She features prominently in the cricketer’s new book, Tested, in which Pat interviews 11 people (including Becky) who have inspired him by overcoming adversity and showing great leadership.

In it, the couple talk about the heartbreaking toll they suffered when his cricket duties meant he was not present for much of the first weeks of Albie’s life.

“We came home from the hospital the day you left and I remember finding you crying on the floor while you were packing,” Becky tells Pat in the book.

‘All I could think was, “Why is he so excited? We’re going to be fine. “It’s not a big deal.”

‘They say ignorance is bliss. When I look back, (taking care of a newborn alone for about a month) was the hardest thing I had ever done in my life at that time.

‘But I spent every day knowing that I would soon be on a plane and meeting you, so I held on to that. That alone helped me get through very lonely and exhausting days and nights.

‘When I finally arrived in Brisbane in November for the start of the summer series, we spent two wonderful days together before you were named Test captain.

“It was amazing and well deserved, but I also felt like my world had collapsed.” I had no control over anything. This baby was supposed to be the most important thing in our lives and all I wanted was for us to be together to enjoy it.

“I felt like that importance and that time was being taken away from me. Your new role was the only thing everyone was talking about. It was all over the news. And every decision and every meeting regarding the captaincy seemed so urgent. “I was very proud but I also felt a little empty.”

Becky is pregnant with the couple’s second child, due in February.

They revealed the news on Instagram in August, writing: ‘Incredibly happy to finally share our news (baby emojis)!

“We’re so excited to meet you, honey, and to add a little more craziness to our lives.”

The post was accompanied by photos of Becky showing off her baby bump with Albie, who she is seen cradling while he places a hand on her belly in one image.

Cummins’ teammate Mitch Marsh was one of the first to congratulate the couple on the touching announcement, as was cricket star Travis Head’s wife Jessica, Aaron Finch’s wife Amy, Rachel, Usman Khawaja’s wife, and Becky’s sister Kara.
