Black Cat goes into ‘goblin mode’ with a swab in the true spirit of Halloween

Honestly, orange cats get all the credit for being crazy. When we get to the other cat breeds, there is simply no room left, so we come up with solutions like “Torti-tude.” However, while it is undeniable that orange cats are absolutely crazy, there is one category of cats that is often left out: black cats.

I put as proof this video from Wednesday, October 30, when a black cat saw a swab and its brother at the same time. It almost shorted out, and this really looks as crazy as it sounds:

if i had @alimm0209 pets, I don’t think I would ever stop laughing. They are both just hilarious!

There are two animals here: Fitzgerald, the cat, and Loki, the dog. Furthermore, a very important character in this story is not named, but he is: hyssop. The swab arrived before Loki. For some reason, Fitzgerald is obsessed with them and loves to play with them whenever he can. So when mom offered him the chance to play with one (under supervision), he went crazy.

Unfortunately, the excitement of playing with his swab was overshadowed by his dog brother, Loki, who did nothing but walk by. That’s what really triggered Fitz’s Goblin Mode activities: he starts making grumpy noises to let his brother know that’s his swab! It’s not that Loki wanted it, because he literally didn’t, but Fitz doesn’t care!

How to calm a cat

Fitzgerald is in Leprechaun mode, and anyone who’s ever owned a cat is no stranger to that, even if you call it something else. Whether they are just excited or something has bothered them, you’ll know they’re going crazy based on their ears, the sounds they make, and whether they’re getting ready to zoom.

If your cat starts using Leprechaun mode, it’s okay to let him take it out as long as it’s safe. If not or it’s just been happening for too long, try these to calm them down:

  1. Distract them with a toy or their favorite treats.

  2. Make sure you are calm and sitting still, because your cat will match your energy.

  3. Play relaxing music.

  4. Say their favorite words to see if you can refocus them.

Try not to get physically involved if you can help it: don’t pick him up or hold him down in any way. If they are still excited, they may scratch you or accidentally hurt them. That would be horrible, especially for Fitz: he might have to miss his swab time!
