German Flats, N.Y. – Two people were arrested and charged Friday for scamming a Herkimer County man and telling him he had several fraudulent Geek Squad accounts, cops said.

Chengfeng Li, 53, of Oakland Gardens and Tao Liu, 53, of New York City, were charged with attempted grand larceny in the third degree, said Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a state police spokeswoman.

A 61-year-old man who lives in German Flats reported to state police that he lost $20,000 in an “elaborate scam,” Jirón said. The victim reported receiving a billing email for $349.99 for a Geek Squad subscription, he said.
