San Rafael man arrested after stabbing downtown

San Rafael police arrested a suspect who allegedly stabbed a person during an argument Thursday.

The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. near the corner of Andersen Drive and Lindaro Street, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. Police detained the suspect there and learned he was involved in a confrontation with two pedestrians.

The suspect allegedly stabbed one person and attempted to assault another who attempted to break up the fight. Police did not know if the suspect and the victims had a prior connection.

The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, Graham said.

Lucas Novick, 28, of San Rafael, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and exhibition of a deadly weapon. His bail amount was set at $50,000.
