Since entering the NFL, Tagovailoa has suffered three confirmed concussions, with fans and media questioning his ability to return to the playing field. Despite the questions, Tagovailoa will return from his third concussion in 2024, according to Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.

Tagovailoa left the Dolphins’ second game of the season against the Buffalo Bills after colliding with Bills safety Damar Hamlin during a quarterback run. Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during the game.

When asked for more details, McDaniel told reporters that Tagovailoa is still gathering information and, “The process continues.”

Tagovailoa was placed on injured reserve (IR) after the loss to the Bills. He will be eligible to return to action on October 23 when the Dolphins take on the Arizona Cardinals. It is currently unknown if Tagovailoa will return then, or if the Dolphins will wait until a later date to bring back their star quarterback.

When healthy, Tagovailoa is a top quarterback in the NFL, with 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns in 17 games in 2023. This offseason, he signed a four-year contract extension worth $212.4 million, making him one of the best paid quarterbacks in the world. NFL History.
