Kody Brown’s kids take a backseat to his ego, except for one MVP

Kody Brown’s kids take a backseat to his ego, except for one MVP

Sister Women star Kody Brown has gone from a crazy dad who seemed to be a hands-on father of 18 in 19 seasons to a man who has separated himself from the children he claimed he loved most. Most of Kody’s actions stem from his bruised ego and the person who blew his whistle the loudest was his and Janelle’s son, Gabriel.

In “The Year of Release,” Gabriel Brown held Kody Brown’s feet to the fire

In the latest Sister Women episode titled “The Year of Release” Kody Brown’s son, Gabriel Brown, held his father’s feet to the fire. Perhaps the rawest moment of the episode was when Gabe revealed that he doesn’t want anything to do with his father anymore.

While he and his mother Janelle Brown had breakfast together, Gabe spoke openly about his interactions with Kody. He seemed to have closed the book on any further relationship.

Gabe explained that he and Kody had a phone conversation about their differences. Kody reportedly told Gabe “I forgive you” about their struggles. Gabe’s response: “Forgive me for what?”

Long time ago Sister Women viewers remember Kody acting cruelly towards Gabe and his brother Garrison because they didn’t follow his strict coronavirus (COVID-19) rules. His behavior soured not only his relationships with his sons, but also with most of his adult children.

Gabe said of the conversation, “It was strange because he said, ‘Hey, I miss you.’ And then he kept phrasing it like I owed him an apology,” Gabe recalled.

He added: ‘I told Dad that if he doesn’t change and take responsibility, I will never see him again. And I’m completely okay with that.”

Gabriel is ‘Sister Wives’ MVP because he doesn’t feed Kody’s (and Robyn’s) egos

Season 19 of Sister Women reportedly a period of two years. Therefore, Janelle’s comment about her children could have happened sometime between 2022 and 2024.

However, some eagle-eyed fans believe that the show cleverly edits newer footage into older scenes. This could be due to Garrison Brown’s death in early 2024, but this tactic has not been confirmed by TLC or Puddle Money Productions.

However, it appears that Kody Brown has not taken any steps to rectify his relationship with his children. These days, it doesn’t appear that any of Janelle’s children are in a relationship with their father.

Janelle said she “doesn’t know what it will take at this point” to get things back on track between the family members. She told the TLC cameras, “Their dad had just randomly told them things about, you know, he wished he had waited and just married Robyn. I don’t know what dad says that to their children, but my children have a lot of stories like that.

Gabe told Janelle Robyn that he has a “victim complex” and “I don’t know, I just don’t have a lot of respect for Robyn, so it’s hard for me to rationalize some of her actions.” Maybe that’s why she says, ‘Oh, you always hated us,’ because she doesn’t have our respect anymore because she does things like that.”

Fans feel that Gabriel Brown is not feeding Kody Brown’s ego

For the first time this season, one of Kody Brown’s children spoke the truth on camera about their father’s abuse. Gabriel Brown was the champion of the Brown family, some Reddit users claim.

“Gabe was the MVP of the episode!! He was dropping truth bombs left and right. He sees Robyn so clearly. I think they all do, but they’re afraid to say anything to avoid getting Kody’s wrath,” one viewer wrote.

“He seems super clear and won’t be easily manipulated by Kody,” a second Redditor claimed. A third wrote that Gabe “was furious in this episode. I don’t know why he and Janelle would get together to make eggs, I guess this was another stand-in scene. I understand why he didn’t think it necessary to mince words about it.’

“Instead of Kody saying he reached out several times and was turned down, and hearing that Gabriel just wanted to hear some accountability from his father, Kody could have asked Gabe to tell him why he’s angry. That may have started the conversation. On the other hand, Kody doesn’t seem to be in a place where he can play his part in any situation, constantly deflecting and shifting blame,” claims a fourth viewer.

Sister Women airs Sundays at 10pm ET on TLC.
