Gregg Wallace responds to resurfaced allegations: ‘My comments were not sexual’

The 2018 incident had previously not been made public, with the publication claiming that Wallace had been reported to BBC bosses for making “consistently inappropriate comments”.

A source told the tabloid: “Gregg was accused of making inappropriate comments to a younger female member of the production team.

“He allegedly bragged about his sex life with his partner at the time. At one point, Gregg was also accused of taking off his top in front of the woman, which felt inappropriate.

“Gregg seemed to think it was all in jest and is also said to have made some comments to the live audience. The team working on the show were shocked and told BBC bigwigs what had happened.”

In a post on his Instagram Stories, Wallace responded to messages saying: “The story that makes the papers. This was immediately investigated when it happened six years ago by the BBC and the outcome was that I had not said anything sexual. .

‘I have to repeat this again. I didn’t say anything sexual.’

He continued: ‘Despite what the newspapers suggest, six years ago no one accused me of flirting with anyone or hitting anyone.

“The reason I say this is because of my wife. I have always been faithful to my wife Anna and have never flirted or hit anyone in the twelve years since I met and fell in love with her.

“And it’s important that people don’t misunderstand that, that I am faithful to my wife.”

A BBC spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: “While we do not comment on individuals, any concerns are dealt with quickly and appropriately. We do not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind and have robust processes in place.”

A source had told The Sun that “questions may be asked about the decision to allow Gregg to continue on MasterChef” amid the incidents.

“The BBC say they are keen to clarify issues surrounding workplace culture but have allowed Gregg to remain on a flagship show despite allegations about his behaviour,” the source said.
