“It is an honor to be back here where it all began, campaigning with the next president of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” he told the crowd at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, a suburb of Green Bay.

The rally took place less than a week before Tuesday’s election that will pit Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden and the White House quickly sought to clarify that Biden was referring specifically to Hinchcliffe.

Favre, however, told supporters Wednesday that Biden’s message was that “we are trash.”

“I can assure you that we are not trash,” Favre said. “How dare you say that? When I look, I see police officers, teachers, nurses, grandparents, students. “I see ordinary Americans making this country great.”

He said he would get involved because of how much is at stake in Tuesday’s election.

Favre also slammed Harris, saying it would be “insane to give Kamala four more years in office.”

“It’s time to bench Kamala and put in the star quarterback,” he said.

When Trump took the stage, he praised Favre as a “real” leader and praised the strength of the former football player’s handshake.

“Man, does he have any hands, you know?” Trump said. “This guy shook my hand, his fingers are like sausages. No wonder he can throw the ball so hard.”

Trump also commented on the “bigger” applause Favre received compared to Trump.

Favre played 20 years in the NFL, beginning his career with the Atlanta Falcons before being traded to the Packers in his second year, a transaction that changed the direction of the organization. He became the first player in NFL history to win three consecutive MVP awards and turned the Packers into a perennial contender. Favre led Green Bay to a Super Bowl title after the 1996 season, its first in 35 years, and to another Super Bowl appearance in 1997.

The Packers traded him to the New York Jets after he came out of retirement in 2008. He spent one season there before playing the final two years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings.
