It’s unclear what initiated the change in plans or whether Trump will attend another event instead of the game. His campaign calendar It lists only 4 pm in Salem, Virginia for Saturday.

“The University has been notified that former President Donald Trump will no longer attend the Ohio State-Penn State football game,” a Penn State spokesperson said in an email to the York Daily Record. Wyatt DuBois, the university’s public relations director, said he was not aware of why Trump’s visit was canceled.

Trump campaign officials did not immediately respond to questions about why he did not attend.

Trump held a campaign rally last Saturday at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. His previously planned appearance at the PSU-Ohio State game would have occurred less than 72 hours before Election Day. Last Thursday, Penn State confirmed that “a private citizen” had invited Trump will attend the game as a guest in his Beaver Stadium suite.
