What Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said about running backfield in the SEC

alabama football They have lost two games so far this season. As a result, the Crimson Tide has experienced two downfield rushes.

First, Vanderbilt fans ran onto the field after beating the Crimson Tide in Nashville. Then, two weeks later, Tennessee fans returned to the field after defeating Alabama in Knoxville.

That has given Kalen DeBoer two experiences of having to navigate a field career already in his short tenure at Alabama.

DeBoer was asked on Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference for his thoughts on the field rush policies that the SEC haswhich now includes the school that takes the field having to pay the fine to the opposing team.

DeBoer didn’t have many ideas “as to what the policy should be or anything else like that. I think that’s for other people to figure out and for the conference sample size and leadership to look at.”

But he shared his thoughts on racing in the field in general.

“I know when it happens, your biggest concern is safety,” DeBoer said. “You’re trying to get your players off the field. All it takes is one fan who is a little over the top and connects with one of our players who is super excited and just left it all on the field. You have a recipe for something that could go wrong. It would be nothing more than something negative. Overall, I think our guys have handled themselves well. When unfortunately we have been in those situations.”

Next up, No. 14 Alabama will take on No. 16 LSU on Saturday, Nov. 9 (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. When Alabama lost at Tiger Stadium two seasons ago, LSU fans ran onto the field.

The last time a team beat Alabama on the road and didn’t rush the field was LSU in 2010.
