An 18-year-old high school football player was seriously injured when two SUVs collided on Route 24 in Morris County Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash took place on the east side at 12:23 p.m. when one pickup truck collided with the other near mile marker 2.95 in Florham Park, state police said.

The truck that was hit overturned, leaving the teen seriously injured, police said. Three other passengers in that van and the driver suffered minor injuries, and the other driver also suffered minor injuries.

The 18-year-old who was seriously injured is a senior on the Whippany Park High School girls’ soccer team. Hanover Park Regional High School District officials had no immediate comment.

The accident remains under investigation.
