Community programs

thanksgiving dinner
If you are alone or unable to go out, call your local Council on Aging by Monday, November 18 to order your Thanksgiving dinner, which will be delivered to your home on Thanksgiving Eve. The meals are sponsored by MV Councils on Aging and are prepared at MV Hospital.

MVRHS Senior Lunch
Monthly senior lunches in the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School culinary arts dining hall are held every second Thursday. Join us on November 14, seating at 11 a.m. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a three-course gourmet dining experience for $15. Reservations are required. Call 508-939-9440. This month’s menu: Greek salad, moussaka (a delicious shepherd’s pie-like dish with eggplant), ground beef, bechamel and baklava (puff pastry with nuts, spices and sweetness).

Emergency Food Program
As a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank, MV Center for Living coordinates the delivery of nutritious food to the local Councils on Aging and Serving Hands Pantry at First Baptist Church in Vineyard Haven for distribution to islanders in need. Shopping transport
The Shopping Shuttle takes seniors residing in Oak Bluffs and Tisbury shopping to run errands, Wednesday through Friday. Call MV Center for Living at 508-939-9440 for more information.
