North Cornwall MP Ben Maguire meets representatives from Padstow Town Council, Go Cornwall Bus and Cornwall Council ahead of tonight’s meeting, following growing concern in the town that the Railway bus stop Car Park can be eliminated.

He said the idea was to seek to explore a collaborative solution that respects the needs of local residents, tourists and the council’s concerns.

The area’s Liberal Democrat MP said: “On Thursday (October 24), I held a roundtable with Padstow Town Council, Go Cornwall Bus and Cornwall Council to explore viable solutions to retaining the lower bus stop in Padstow so that Residents are able to fully access local buses.

“It was a very constructive meeting in which all parties recognized the importance of the stop for locals and tourists, and everyone agreed that a collaborative approach would be necessary to find a viable solution to the problem.

“As a direct result of the meeting, a formal letter of intent will be sent to the City Council to assure them that all interested parties will work at pace to implement a solution that addresses both their concerns and the needs of local people. .

“Council is due to meet on Tuesday to consider delaying the closure of the stop until February to allow this work to be carried out, a proposal which has my full support.”
