Belpre City Council approves ordinances and resolutions in ordinary meeting | News, sports, jobs

BELPRE – The Belpre City Council approved several ordinances and resolutions at its regular meeting Monday night.

The Council approved the second and third readings of an ordinance authorizing the city to collect 19.5 percent of the legally required contribution to the Ohio Public Employees’ Retirement and Pension Funds for employees of the Ohio Police Department. Belpre.

The council approved all three readings of a resolution authorizing the mayor to sell a truck to the city of Athens and another to purchase a new truck for the city of Belpre.

The council also approved three readings of an ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute a deed and other documents to allow the transfer of real estate to the city of Belpre. It involves some adjustments to the property lines between the city of Belpre and Boxer’s Bed and Biscuits on Washington Boulevard based on a corrected survey, Belpre Legal Director Tom Webster said.

In her report to the council, Mayor Susan Abdella said she met with Washington County 911 Director Doug Moore on Monday to discuss changes to the local 911 system.

On Nov. 12, Belpre will receive all 911 calls in its boundaries and must ensure the city’s police department is NexGen 911 compliant by October 2025.

“The chief (Michael Stump) and our team will work on this evaluation and documents.” Abdela said.

Council’s Finance/Audit Committee has begun a series of meetings to prepare the 2025 budget. Upcoming meetings include: November 11 at 6:15 pm, November 18 at 4:30 pm, November 25 at at 6:15 pm, December 2 at 4:30 pm, December 9 at 6:15 pm and December 16 at 6:15 pm.
