Surat nurse attacked: 21-year-old victim harassed by former employee in hospital | Surat News

Surat: In a terrifying incident, a 21-year-old nurse of Limbayat Hospital was sexually assaulted by a man who had entered the hospital premises to allegedly buy medicines for his condition. She didn’t know he had other intentions. While she was on her way to pick up the medicine, the man followed her and started sexually harassing her.
Through human and technical supervision, the Limayat Police managed to track down Zuber Ansari (19) and arrest him. During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that Ansari had previously worked at the hospital.
The victim informed her colleague about the incident and left for her home in the morning after her shift ended. When she returned home, she informed her parents of the situation, who advised her to file a complaint with the police.
The victim had reported for her night shift on Friday evening. After securing the hospital gates, she was stationed in the emergency department. At about 3 a.m. Saturday, the suspect, Ansari, approached the hospital doors. When the victim opened the gate, Ansari claimed he needed anti-vomiting medication because he was not feeling well.
He followed her to the store and sexually harassed her. The victim handed him the drugs and left the store. When she left, Ansari threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident, the police complaint said.
Limbayat police inspector Sahdevsinh Padheriya told TOI, “We have arrested Ansari after booking him for sexual harassment and criminal intimidation under BNS 78(2), 79 and 351(3).”
