Henry County Offers Poll Worker Training Ahead of 2024 Election

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) – With the election right around the corner, Henry County officials are making sure they are well prepared.

A training event for poll workers was held Tuesday at Abbeville Methodist Church. More than 100 poll workers, election officials and student volunteers gathered to make sure everyone was ready for next Tuesday.

Probate Judge David Money shared his excitement about the addition of the student volunteers and said this was something that had been “years in the making.” He expressed his joy at seeing young people so eager to get involved and learn about these things.

“It warms my heart. We have young people who want to understand democracy, the process, and participate in it… it’s just a great experience to learn what this is all about, and they were eager to do it… you hear them say every day, they’re ours future. And they are, and we certainly are fortunate to have young people like that in Henry County,” Money said.

In addition to the presidential race, Henry County voters can also expect to see races to determine the next probate judge and county commissioners on the ballot next Tuesday.

Money also shared some new polling locations around the county. These include:

  • Headland: Headland voters will now vote at the Headland Methodist Church on West King Street.
  • Abbeville: Abbeville voters will now vote at Abbeville First Baptist Church on Columbia Road.
