Feds Drop Charges Against Creve Couer Car Dealer

Federal prosecutors in New Mexico dismissed charges last month against a Creve Coeur woman accused of being involved in a romance scam.

Adesuwa Renee Ogiozee was indicted in 2021 on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy after federal prosecutors said she received approximately $12,000 of the $560,000 stolen from an Albuquerque woman in a romance scam and used it to purchase a Mercedes Benz.

Her lawyer, Matthew Radefeld, said there was no evidence she had done anything wrong.

Ogiozee is an international car dealership. Radefeld said he agreed to buy a car for the romance scammers, but he didn’t know who they were. When he received a payment from romance scammers, he was singled out because federal authorities were investigating the victim’s accounts.

“She’s a car racer,” Radefeld said. “That’s what she’s always done.”

The charges against Ogiozee were dismissed on Sept. 11, according to court records.
