Strictly’s Wynne and Katya have shut down fans over ‘inappropriate’ moment | Celebrity News | Showbiz and television

The Welsh opera singer, 52, and the Russian professional dancer, 35, wowed the judges at this week’s BBC dance competition when they achieved their highest score yet after performing the tango in ABBA’s Money, Money, Money .

But things took an unexpected turn when the dancing duo’s bizarre antics in the green room caused concern among fans.

Eagle-eyed viewers flocked to social media after spotting the pair’s unusual interactions in the background of all the Strictly chaos, with many convinced there was some sort of bad blood between them.

It started with Wynne standing behind Katya with a supportive arm around her waist as Claudia Winkleman interviewed Pete Wicks about his jazzy quickstep.

The former Strictly champion beamed alongside her co-star, but subtly moved the singer’s hand back to her hip after it moved closer to her midriff.

Later in the show, viewers noticed Wynne’s failed attempt to get a high-five from Katya. The award-winning dancer turned her back and made a rather unimpressed face in the wink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

She then quickly turned to the camera with a big grin on her face as if nothing had happened.

It didn’t take long for fans to flock to X – formerly known by Twitter – to share their concerns online.

Devoted viewers soon began to speculate that there was conflict between the pair, with some saying the moment was “inappropriate”. Others even urged the BBC to investigate the footage.

But after the show aired, Wynne and Katya took to Instagram to clear the air with fans before things escalated further. In a clip shared to Instagram, the pair were seen still in their show costumes as they discussed the concerns online.

Katya started: “Hello everyone. It’s Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say that we were messing around at the Claudatorium on Saturday night and said sorry, it was a lame joke.

Wynne chimed in with, “Yeah, sorry” before they both visibly cringed backstage. Wynne added in the caption: “Apologies for this, tonight we were just messing around. We are really great friends.

“The high 5s are a running joke,” he insisted. “A nice evening.” Fans immediately flocked to the comments to share their support online.

One user reassured him: “You didn’t do anything wrong!! (heart eyes emoji)” as another agreed: “Glad you came out straight away to get rid of all the nonsense “I liked your dance tonight (heart emoji)”.

A third chimed in: “Honestly devastated that you both feel like you have to apologize. Neither of you have done anything wrong at all. My absolute favorites from week one and your dance tonight was fantastic (laughing emoji).”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays from 6.20pm on BBC One or watch on BBC iPlayer.
