23-year-old man faces charges in Needham crash that seriously injured two pedestrians

A 23-year-old Boston man will be charged for allegedly hitting two pedestrians with his vehicle. in Needham on Monday and initially drove away before returning to the crash site, authorities said.

Police did not release the driver’s name because he was not arrested, Baker said.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Hunnewell and West streets, police said.

A man who identified himself as the driver after returning to the scene of the accident told WCVB-TV who initially ran away because he was afraid.

He said he went “about 25, 30 down the street” when he left work.

“I swear to God, literally, I don’t know, like something was right in front of me at the moment it happened,” he told the station.

Both pedestrians were taken to a Boston hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Their names, ages and genders were not revealed.
