Heung-min Son is splashed by a dark family matter

Heung-min Son, a true national icon in South Korea, is engulfed by an unlikely family scandal.

Tottenham player Heung-min Son, one of the Premier League’s most prominent strikers, unknowingly becomes embroiled in a scandal that affects his immediate family in South Korea.

While he could boast that he had happily contributed to the development of his son Heung-min in a book that became very popular in the country, Woong-jung Son, 62, founded a football academy that very quickly became popular in Korea.

Convicted of child abuse

Only the beautiful story turned into a scandal when Heung-min Son’s father, his brother Heung-yun and another teacher had to appear before the Korean courts, the target of several complaints of abuse of minors.

The three men were sentenced on Friday to a fine of 3 million won (about 2,030 euros), but also and especially to 40 hours of training to prevent violence against children. Although he partially denied the facts, Woong-jung Son still apologized to the court.
