Of course, the coach needs money, but he has to buy players who fit into the club. Manchester United is probably the most difficult place in the world to play football. Every media outlet in the world has been talking about this all day. You don’t necessarily have to be the best player, but you do have to be very strong mentally.

Who has been there to help Erik ten Hag? Nobody. At Ajax they did brilliantly and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. Manchester United and Ajax are very different.

The pressure is relentless. Everything you do will be under a microscope. Ajax is not like that, people in Thailand and Argentina don’t watch everything they do. There are players who shouldn’t be there.

This is where Sir Alex Ferguson was fantastic, he wouldn’t just sign one player. He would find out everything about them and their family, he would know what type of player he would bring. They haven’t recorded.

They have signed some good players, but they have not signed enough players who have been able to win for Manchester United. That is why, for so many years, the club has not achieved what it wanted. The Premier League has not been work, the Champions League has not been won.
