Officers continue to make drug and weapons arrests.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office credits residents with helping make several recent arrests as part of its efforts to get guns and drugs off the streets.

Henry Irby, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said his deputies are committed to making neighborhoods safer. Thanks to numerous tips and information from community members, several arrests have been made.

“Thanks to the citizens for providing information; is helping our officers keep their neighborhoods safe,” Irby said.

Irby explained that they have received tips through the department’s Crime Stoppers app and direct calls from residents reporting illegal activity, which has led to significant arrests.

“It’s great to see the community get involved. They are helping us help them. “From drugs to firearms to Glock switches, it’s incredible what our officers are accomplishing,” he added.

So far, agents have seized at least 10 guns and various drugs, including methamphetamine and marijuana. Irby emphasized that these arrests send a strong message to those who make bad decisions.

“I hope this makes you uncomfortable. We want them to know that we are working hard and that we are using the information provided by citizens,” Irby said.
