Madurai district cybercrime police arrest three for cheating man worth ₹1.32 cr.

The Madurai district cybercrime police have arrested three men for involvement in cybercrime and duping a man in Madurai of ₹1.32 crore.

Police said the online fraudsters duped the victim of ₹1.32 crore on the pretext of getting him a part-time job. After realizing that he had been cheated, the victim filed a complaint with the Madurai District Cyber ​​Crime Police.

Based on the complaint, a team was formed to arrest the suspect. It traced the Indusind Bank through which transactions were made with three persons: K. Vadivelu and E. Jayaraman from Puducherry and K. Ramalingam from Villupuram.

Police said Ramalingam, who received a commission of ₹1 lakh from the fraudsters, helped open a bank account. Police arrested the three and froze the bank account containing around ₹2.18 crore.

During investigation, police found that the three were involved in similar cyber crimes in Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. On the pretext of offering part-time jobs, they had duped several people to the tune of ₹1.50 crore.

The police confiscated mobile phones, laptops, SIM cards, bank cards and debit cards from them.

The district police asked the public to immediately contact the toll-free number 1930 if they have been scammed by online fraudsters. They could also register complaints via www.cybercrime.gov.in.
