Passenger seriously injured after deer collides with SUV on I-70

CONCORDIA, Mo. (KCTV) – The passenger of a pickup truck was seriously injured after a deer on I-70 caused a serious early morning collision over the weekend.

He Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​eastbound I-70 and Missouri Highway 23, in Concordia, for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Justin M. McClung, 38, of Glen Jena, West Virginia, was driving his Nissan Armada east on the interstate when a deer ran into the road.

State troopers noticed McClung was unable to avoid the creature and struck it head-on.

Emergency crews said McClung’s passenger, Farrah M. McClung, 38, of Mount Hope, West Virginia, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the process. she was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

All involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
