Dick Strawbridge rages as ‘inappropriate’ encounter with fans leaves son ‘nearly fainting’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz and TV

Dick and Angel Strawbridge of Escape to the Chateau are touring Britain and bringing their Forever Home lecture to major venues, including the London Palladium.

The pair had included daughter Dorothy and son Arthur in the on-stage antics, but the latter was in for a shock in Liverpool when a fan stripped right in front of him. They are now considering making a major change to prevent this from happening again.

Chuckling woman Angel thought the stunt was “hilarious”, but Dick said angrily: “I don’t think a guy should do that.” It was prompted by the couple’s request for audience members to think outside the box to get their “attention” so they could be selected to appear on stage with them.

In London, Angel admitted that she picked contestants to take part in the interactive part of the show based purely on their “clothes”, and she fancied someone’s green dress with mermaid-themed sequins. In Liverpool, however, it was more about a lack of clothing – and Dick is now putting his foot down.

During their podcast, Dick and Angel’s Chat…Eau, he explained: “We have to be careful about selecting people from the audience now because my selection technique has to change.” Angel complained, “I can’t believe you changed it again.”

He shot back: “I had to because I told people, ‘If you want to get on stage, do something to get my attention.’ It started in Liverpool, but somehow people thought if they took off their clothes they would get on stage.”

Although Angel saw the funny side of it, he insisted: “I think it’s wrong, I don’t think a guy should do that.”

Then the mood lightened as they joked, “When the young lady did it, Arthur almost fainted.”

The interactive part of the show that the audience fought to be involved in is called Jack of All Trades, and has seen fans compete against each other to try out their own stage renovations.

They are put to the test by doing the exact same things Dick and Angel had to do when converting their dilapidated castle into a beautifully restored home – minus their infamous encounters with sewage, of course.

The London activities included tiling a portable wall and mastering the electrical wiring, before being judged on their efforts with a clapometer that measures the strength of the public’s response to each completed project.

In the meantime, after reading our review of the show, you can catch Dick and Angel on tour until November 17 – check here to see if your city is included.
