Former Washington County deputy pleads guilty, convicted of sexual assault

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A former Washington County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to two charges related to sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

A criminal complaint alleges that Noah Schlabaugh, 23, raped a 15-year-old girl in December 2023. For that offense, he was charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

The complaint also alleges that on Jan. 5, 2024, Schlabaugh attempted to obtain information about the victim from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office by using his position as a deputy and saying it was for law enforcement purposes. For this offense he was charged with intentionally requesting, obtaining or attempting to obtain intelligence data under false pretenses.
