USD 428 offers ‘Value Up’ parent evening with renowned speaker

Great Bend USD 428 is proud to announce an upcoming event for parents and guardians designed to strengthen connections between home and school. On Tuesday, October 29, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the Great Bend High School Auditorium will host “Value Up” Parent Night, featuring renowned speaker and author Mike Donahue.

The program is open to all $428 parents/guardians, especially parents of students in grades 5 through 12.

Mike Donahue, founder of the motivational organization Value Up, has spent more than three decades speaking to more than a million students around the world, sharing messages about respect, self-esteem, bullying, and creating a positive school culture. Donahue is known for his candid and engaging style, and his presentations have resonated with students, teachers and families alike.

During the school day, students at Great Bend Middle School and Great Bend High School will hear Mike’s life-changing message focused on helping students understand their intrinsic worth and how self-esteem influences life choices. The evening parent event is designed to drive home these important lessons and provide parents with tools and strategies to better connect with their children.

Brock Funke, principal of Great Bend High School, shared his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “I had the opportunity to work with Mike Donahue in my previous school district, and I was amazed at the power of his message and the positive impact of it. had on students. We are excited to bring him to Great Bend and believe his message will truly resonate in our community.”

Additionally, as part of this initiative, all students will receive a digital copy of Mike Donahue’s book, “Talking to Brick Walls,” to reinforce the valuable lessons learned from the meeting.
