Aaron Rodgers adds another excuse to his Jets struggles

Aaron Rodgers adds another excuse to his Jets struggles

The power of friendship hasn’t been enough to save the sinking ship that is the New York Jets and their 2024 prospects. No matter how many friends Aaron Rodgers recruits to join the team, it never seems to be enough. So the aloof quarterback has resorted to the next best thing: the blame game.

With the Jets at 2-5, Rodgers has blamed virtually everyone in the organization for the team’s shortcomings except himself. Somehow, those other than the person touching the ball are most responsible for every offensive move. The veteran signal caller refuses to take responsibility for the hugely disappointing campaign. However, his latest apology indicates that he is running out of people to point the finger at.

According to Connor Hughes of SNY, Rodgers has added a hamstring injury to his laundry list of ailments.

Already dealing with ailments in “both knees” and a low ankle sprain, Rodgers suddenly has a soft tissue problem.

While none of these scrapes and bruises have been enough to sideline Rodgers, he wants everyone to know he’s in pain. So as the Jets season spirals further out of control, the future Hall of Famer has an alibi prepared.

First, the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh and demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. While Rodgers claims he had no involvement in either of these decisions, he wasn’t completely in the dark about either outcome. He then threw wide receiver Mike Williams under the bus and practically banished him from New York. Strangely enough, the situation is becoming more toxic by the day.

After exhausting all teammates and emotions to place blame, Rodgers began writing down every ache in his body on the injury report. There is no reason to assume that he has no physical limitations. Yet this still feels like a way out in case the Jets’ skid continues.

As the centerpiece of the franchise, Rodgers must lead by example. Instead, he has done the exact opposite and dragged his colleagues through the mud whenever he had the chance. As a 20-year NFL veteran and four-time MVP winner, that should be standard practice. Yet that has been far from the case.

Rodgers will likely be limited all week as the Jets prepare to face the New England Patriots. He’s been on the injury report for about a month now, though none of the issues mentioned have forced him to miss time.
