Portsmouth won their first Championship game on Saturday against QPR, who are also in the relegation zone and were bottom when Pompey beat them 2-1 away from home.

It was a much-needed victory, but one that was somewhat expected.

They have had some good but also terrible performances this season and are hard to predict, such as a 3-3 draw against Leeds.

The 6-1 loss to Stoke three weeks ago, just a few days earlier, also yielded a huge point against unbeaten Sheffield United.

Sheffield Wednesday, on the other hand, have been in better form of late, although they did lose 2-0 to Burnley last weekend, but they are chasing promotion.

Their 0-0 draw against Swansea on Tuesday night is encouraging enough to see this match go their way, with a quick turnaround needed with the match just a few days away.

These two last met in League One in the 2022/23 season and have both been promoted since then.
