Addressing overcrowding in Clark County schools with wearable devices

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County School District Zoning Advisory Board is exploring ways to reduce overcrowding at Las Vegas Valley schools.

The board heard a proposal for Desert Pines High School to consider.

The high school has 42 portable computers used as classrooms.

“Desert Pines, when we get to the scenario that talks about converting Robinson Middle School to a high school, that is one of the ways that Desert Pines is going to have lower enrollment,” said Tracy Murphy, director of demographics and zoning for CCSD.

Other schools in need of lighting with large numbers of portable classrooms include Arbor View and Centennial middle schools, which have 24 and 35 portable classrooms, respectively.

Repurposing is another scenario being considered as new housing projects are completed.
