‘Struggler’: Sonali Kulkarni recalls how her Mission Kashmir co-star Hrithik Roshan introduced herself

Hrithik Roshan has become one of the most popular Bollywood actors who rose to fame with acting skills and captivating screen presence. His journey started with the massive success of his first film, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai, but before its release, the actor collaborated with Sonali Kulkarni for Mission Kashmir. In a recent interview, Sonali recalled the time she worked with Hrithik and how the actor introduced himself as a ‘warrior’.

In conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Sonali Kulkarni shared that he had worked with Hrithik Roshan before his breakthrough film released. Sonali and Hrithik were seen in the 2000 film Mission Kashmir. The actress shared that she met Hrithik Roshan on her audition day for the film and ‘He said, ‘Hi, I am Hrithik Roshan, son of Rakesh Roshan. I’m a wrestler. ”

In return, Sonali also introduced herself: “Hello, I am Sonali Kulkarni, daughter of BG Kulkarni. I’m a wrestler too.” Sonali added that as the filming for Mission Kashmir progressed, Hrithik’s debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai made him popular overnight. Nevertheless, it was always very positive when they met, and they regularly motivated each other.

Sonali Kulkarni played Hrithik’s foster mother in the film at the young age of 25. When asked if she felt uncomfortable with her role, the actress noted that she didn’t mind because she was playing a character. However, she expressed concern over the height difference between Sanjay Dutt and herself, playing his wife in the film. The actress added that she felt she would be rejected from the film due to their height difference and the makers would take Sanjay Dutt’s screen presence into consideration. She also said that she was initially unaware that she was playing Hrithik Roshan’s mother. Mission Kashmir was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Since his debut, Hrithik has appeared in numerous hit films including War, Bang Bang, Jodhaa Akbar and Krrish 3. He was last seen in Fighter alongside Deepika Padukone. He will next appear in the action film War 2, starring Jr NTR. On the other hand, Sonali Kulkarni was last seen in Love Sitara with Shobita Dhulipala, B Jayashree, Virginia Rodrigues and others.
